Secure HTTP connections now available for anyone

The nonprofit certificate authority Let’s Encrypt recently unveiled a new service that would allow anyone to get free “wildcard” certificates to enable secure HTTP connections for entire domains.

The nonprofit also released a new version of the Automated Certificate Management Environment protocol, which is an interface that automates verification of certificate requests and is required to get wildcard certificates.
