Malicious software infects 500,000 devices

More than 500,000 routers have been affected by VPNFilter, malware that can steal sensitive data and manipulate everything going through the infected router.

VPNFilter is worse than security officials originally thought, and is targeting a larger number of routers than first believed.

While a key command and control server was recently seized, the malware is still active.

If you have an affected router, you’ll most likely want to reboot it and immediately install the latest firmware from the manufacturer.

For updates or advice, contact the manufacturer directly.
