Winter Olympic ceremony struck by malware

The 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, were hit with a malware attack on the opening night of the competition.

During the Feb. 9 opening ceremony, several non-critical systems were attacked, including the Internet and television systems. The website for the Games went offline for 12 hours, stopping attendees from printing tickets or checking event schedules.

Organizers haven’t disclosed who’s responsible for the attack, but are still investigating how it happened.
