There’s one common technology that many businesses still aren’t using — and it could be hurting their bottom line:
Broadband Internet.
To IT folks in many companies, going without hi-speed web access is unimaginable. However, a recent study from non-profit group Connected Nation estimates that 2.1 million U.S. companies — or 28% of them — still don’t use broadband today.
And those firms may be missing out on a significant profit boost. Businesses with high-speed Internet connections report having median annual revenues $200,000 more than businesses without broadband, according to the study.
The research looked at a sample of 9, 650 businesses. The lack of broadband was particularly pronounced in the healthcare sector, where only 63% of practices are using broadband.
