Firefox gets a speed boost

Users looking for ever-faster ways to browse the web may want to check out the latest version of Mozilla’s Firefox browser.

The beta version of Microsoft’s latest browser, Internet Explorer 9, has gotten some positive reviews due to its increase in speed.

Now, it appears Mozilla is making the same improvements to its Firefox browser. Firefox 4 features a new JavaScript engine, known as JagerMonkey, which lets the new browser render Java three times faster than previous versions, according to Mozilla.

Firefox 4 also features hardware acceleration, which increases speed even further on computers with supported graphics cards.

The browser’s currently in beta release and is expected to be ready in January 2011. More info can be found here.
