Threat: Two families of malware, Joanap and Brambul, have been used by the North Korean government to enable network exploitation.
Damage risk: Devices infected by Joanap and Brambul may permanently lose sensitive data. The malware can harvest system info and generate and execute a suicide script.
Exploited flaw: Joanap is usually a file unknowingly downloaded when users visit compromised sites or open malicious email attachments. Brambul is often installed onto a network by dropper malware.
Fixes/Workarounds: Continue keeping operating systems and software updated with the most recent patches, and maintain your antivirus software.
