Slowly but surely, IT departments are starting to hire again. What skills are CIOs looking for?
About 9% of IT managers say they’re going to hire new employees in the remaining months of 2010, according to a recent survey by Robert Half Technology. Just 6% expect cutbacks, for a net gain of 3%. That’s up three points from this time last year.
Which IT skills are companies looking for? The top skill sets, according to the survey’s respondents:
- Network administration (60%)
- Database management (54%)
- Windows administration (51%), and
- Help desk support (51%).
When asked what skills were the hardest to find, the most popular answers were networking (21%), security (13%) and help desk support (13%).
