SaaS adoption catches on

Considering a move to software as a service (SaaS) applications? If not, you’re one of only a few.

More than 95% of companies plan to maintain or increase their use of SaaS, according to a recent Gartner survey. Of the 270 IT pros surveyed, 72% plan to spend more on SaaS applications within the next two years.

Bottom line: Despite some belief that SaaS was a fad, it appears to have caught on.

There is a catch, though: Most companies still don’t have policies governing the evaluation and use of SaaS. Only 39% have such a policy or process, up just 1% in the past year.

That could be why IT managers who aren’t satisfied with their SaaS experience cite integration and customization as the reason.

A solid evaluation and use policy could mitigate both those problems.

I agree with your thinking about why even as SaaS adoption rises many IT managers are not satisfied with their SaaS experiences. You hit the nail on the head with the statement, “Most companies still don’t have policies governing the evaluation and use of SaaS.”
