Cloud storage is gaining popularity among cash-strapped IT departments. But what are companies using it for?
According to a recent survey by market research firm Storage Strategies NOW, 57% of businesses plan on adopting cloud storage soon.
Where are they using cloud storage? The first priority is email, followed by front-office applications, and then back-up data.
As for the time table, 22% of those companies said they’re already started their cloud storage adoption, while 43% will do so within a year, and 29% within two years.
Respondents gave varying reasons for the move to cloud. Some said they wanted a way to store data off-site, while others are trying to save on operational and infrastructure costs, or improve their business agility.
