Can users in your company securely access data from outside the office? Secure or not, they’re going to try.
Nearly all (95%) of office workers expect to use a cell phone or smartphone to get work done while they take time off from work, according to recent survey by Credant Technologies. In addition, 64% said they bring laptops when they go on vacation so they can get work done.
Of the laptops that will be taken on vacation, 66% will be unencrypted and 51% won’t even be password protected. That’s despite the fact that 58% of the employees said they’re worried about the security of the data they’re taking with them.
Bottom line: Users are going to work while they’re away, and that means taking documents with them, or getting data through remote network access.
Credant recommends going over security policies with users and making sure all devices that will be used to access company information are properly protected.
