If your business has struggled to keep up with the huge amounts of data it must store, you aren’t alone.
The increasing amount of data that needs to be saved presents the biggest challenge to IT’s infrastructure plans, according to a recent Gartner survey.
Almost half (47%) of the 1,004 IT pros surveyed ranked data growth as one of their top three challenges. As a result, most businesses will need to invest more to be able to hold all that information — 62% said they’ll need to add hardware to their data centers by the end of 2011, and 30% said they’ll build entirely new data centers.
One reason companies will be upgrading next year: Many of them would have done so this year, but were forced to hold off on upgrades because of the economy.
