IT managers optimistic about 2011 budgets

Finally, some good news: It appears most IT departments will soon get the funding they need for long-awaited upgrades and new projects.

This year, 73% of IT leaders are at least somewhat optimistic about the likelihood of their organization being able to invest in IT projects soon, according to a recent survey by Robert Half Technology.

Even better, 80% of respondents are confident about their organization’s overall growth prospects for the next quarter.

As for job prospects, there appears to be improvement there, as well — 9% of the 1,400 IT managers surveyed said their departments will add staff during the rest of 2011. Just 2% plan to cut back.

The net 7% job gain is up from 5% at the same time last year.
