Here’s some news that hasn’t been reported in a while: Internet Explorer’s market share has actually increased this month.
A year ago, 66.97% of web users were browsing with IE, though that number had dropped every month since, landing at 59.75% in May, Network World reports.
In that same time period, Firefox and Chrome both saw significant gains (to 24.32% and 7.04%, respectively).
In June, IE’s market share crept back up to 60.32%, gaining at the expense of Firefox.
Experts attribute the increase to the stronger security features of Internet Explorer 8, which has helped Microsoft gain back individuals and businesses who had turned away from older versions of the browser.
