Florida Medicaid breach exposes info of 30K

A phishing attack in November 2017 led to the possible exposure of 30,000 Medicaid recipients in Florida.

Full names, Medicaid ID numbers, dates of birth, addresses and Social Security numbers may have been compromised in the attack.

It was caused by an employee at the state’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) who fell for a malicious phishing email.

The agency said it’s training all employees on IT security in the wake of the breach. The AHCA is also reviewing its IT systems to figure out how the breach occurred.
