Planning on going away in the near future? You might want to think twice before you announcing an upcoming trip on social networking sites.
Three men in New Hampshire were arrested after allegedly burglarizing 18 homes and stealing more than $200,000 worth of property.
Police said the suspects scanned Facebook to find people with plans to be out of town, TV station WMUR reports.
Facebook, however, has denied the link between the site and the burglaries. The only notable evidence: One of the suspects is Facebook friends with one of the victims, who had posted a message about going away for the weekend before the crime occurred.
There were no Facebook connections between the suspects and any of the other victims.
Nevertheless, experts say it’s smart to limit the amount of information that makes it onto Facebook. Pass the warning on to users, too.
