21K impacted in Marine Corps data breach

The information of more than 21,000 soldiers and civilians was leaked in a data breach from the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve.

Vulnerable data includes truncated Social Security numbers, bank routing numbers, truncated credit card info, mailing and residential addresses, and emergency contact info.

The breach occurred when an unencrypted email with an attachment containing the data was sent to the wrong email distribution list.

Right now, the Marines believe there was no malicious intent to leak the data.
